The situation is not looking good for New York State operators, even worse than what Covid has done to us. I don’t know if everyone is aware, (We were successful in extending this for another year) but on May 31st, 2025, all tax exemptions for New York State operators will stop and you will be paying sales tax on everything. CAN YOU AFFORD TO LOSE 8% OF YOUR GROSS SALES TO THE STATE? (your tax rate may be different than mine). The New York State Automatic Vending Association (NYSAVA) is paying a lobbyist to fight with us in Albany to do away with this sunset clause. We are asking for every operator in NYS to Please Pay your dues and donate whatever you can. I know things are tight, but it will become worse after May 31st if we don’t do anything. If we don’t have this removed, you will be paying much more in taxes than now. We fought very hard to get what we have, don’t let it go away!
"IN ADDITION TO THE TAX EXEMPTION, WE ARE NOW ALSO HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE NEW PROPOSED BOTTLE BILL"

Welcome to New York State Automatic Vending Association's web site. We are a trade association made up of vending companies, product and equipment suppliers and manufacturers, to promote the vending industry. While doing this we also keep close watch on Albany for legislation aimed at the vending industry.
NYSAVA is a state organization chartered by the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA). NAMA’s services include government relations (state, local and federal), education, legal counseling, newsletters, and national trade shows.
In 1997, NYSAVA enacted legislation lifting the state and local sales tax from vended hot drink sales, and the one-third of snack sales previously taxed.
In 2000, we enacted more far reaching tax relief legislation that will exempt all vended sales, including candy and carbonated drinks, at $.75 or less. In short, NO state chapter in NAMA’s network of 31 state councils has been more effective in representing the vending industry than the New York Automatic Vending Association.
In 2010,NYSAVA along with their Lobbyist started working to gather support and have since introduced a bill that would increase the vending Sales Tax Exemption from sales $0.75 cents and under to sales $1.50 and under. The goal is that it would provide the Vendors operating within the State of New York the necessary financial relief they needed to be competitive with other outlets, preserve and promote growth of jobs and availability of New York locally produced products to be sold in our automatic merchandisers. In 2016 this was increased to $2.00 however it is due to expire May 31, 2024.
We also annually host the Herb Luckower Memorial Golf Tournament, which is NYSAVA’s only annual fund raiser, each fall at some of New York’s most beautiful courses. There are up to three general membership meetings held each year, throughout the state, to help promote our industry identity, pride, and goodwill.
